All our girls are very respectful and not intrusive. They can be shy sometimes. It is the families responsibility to help her to interact with family members, despite any language barrier. They are learning and improving their English along the way, and if the parents give up talking to them because they cannot understand, they will take longer to learn and possibly feel lonely. You need to be prepared to give your Au Pair the chance to learn from you and improve their language skills, in a friendly way. Are you prepared to have an extra person in your home that cannot speak English very well?

Yes No

Au Pair House created this program for people from overseas that wish to experience a family environment and be part of an Australian family. Do you think that you will be able to provide our Au Pair with this type of environment and allow her to share in some family time?

We design a work schedule with the family, this way we avoid many misunderstandings and false expectations. Do you think we can put together a work routine for your Au Pair sometime before the Au Pair arrives? (This schedule is flexible and can be improved during the program in order to benefit both the Au Pair and family)

Yes No

As your Au Pair is expected to work for you either doing housework or/and helping with your children, you must give her Training. This Training must be done in her first week of arrival, based on your work schedule previously designed by you (family) and Au Pair House. Every family has different habits, cleaning standards and different background.
This Training is to show the Au Pair:

  • How you like things done.
  • What product they should use.
  • How long they should spend on each task.
  • If dealing with children, pets or any other family member what the procedures and restrictions are.

Will you have time to show her in detail how to do her job the way you want it to be done?

Yes No

It is vital for the program to be successful that families do not give up trying to interact and communicate with the Au Pairs in a friendly, caring and positive way. If you find yourself in a situation where the interaction or communication seems to be a problem, would you be able to talk through and help the situation?

Yes No

Children are always children and they are curious and have their good and bad days. Do you think your children will enjoy, be friendly and respectful with the Au Pair at all times? If not, do you think you can be aware of what is happening and help the situation?
Do you think your children will respect the Au Pair’s bedroom and their privacy? If not at all times, do you think you can help the situation?
