Au Pair House is an accommodation agency with a difference, offering au pair accommodation programs with personal service and care.

We are a family business based on the Gold Coast with a unique combination of aims and skills that enable us to locate and place au pairs with families in Australia.

The director of the business, Renata McCarthy, has been an au pair herself during her travels when she was 19 years old. In the last 8 years, Renata and her partner have received more than 30 homestay students from Japan and other countries in their home on the Gold Coast. Today they have two beautiful girls who love their time with the au pairs who are hosted in their home. We are aware of the value of cross cultural experiences and understand that many families in Australia need help with their children and also managing light house work in their daily routines.

Au Pair House found that there are a lot of people coming to Australia who want to experience the family environment as their accommodation option, however not all could afford the high average homestay fee (AU$200 per week). This space in the market created an opportunity to offer a new type of accommodation called “au pair accommodation”. Our au pair accommodation has a fee equivalent to less than half of the homestay fee and in exchange for the low fee au pairs help the family with light house work and if needed give help with the children for a few hours a day.

Our aim for our au pairs

Our aim is to give our clients the opportunity to experience Australia within a family lifestyle on a budget, while still having free time to study, work and travel. Au pairs can save money by exchanging basic housework and/or child minding for accommodation and meals. We ensure that participants of our programs have enough free time to find a paid job during the weekdays or weekends and make some money, or travel and sightsee while living with the family.
Our goal is to give the best chance possible to our clients looking for a quality type of accommodation to enjoy the beautiful Gold Coast and elsewhere in Australia, while experiencing life being part of an Australian family and gaining au pair experience.

Our aim for our families

Our aim is to provide our Australian families with valuable assistance in their daily routines at the minimal cost of providing accommodation and meals. The au pairs, housekeepers and nannies are able to provide help with general house duties and/or child minding, depending on what is most required for the household.
Au Pair House understands that each family is different, and has individual needs and requirements. Every family that applies will receive a visit in their home where all members of the family will be met, and the programs will be explained and tailor-made specifically for each family. Unlike many other companies that are more concerned with turning profits, our primary objective is to maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction that is achievable.
